Split-Hand Malformation in a 4-Year-Old Child

چکیده
Split-hand deformity is one of the milder manifestations of a congenital disorder called split-hand/split-foot malformation. We present a case of a 4-year-old child with split-hand malformation in his left hand since birth. A median cleft was present in the affected hand with absence of the 3rd and 4th digits, giving rise to a characteristic lobster-claw appearance. Functionality of the affected hand was modestly impaired. As none of the close family members of the patient had similar limb malformations, the deformity was postulated to arise most likely from a de novo mutation. The patient was discharged after the parents were provided with genetic counseling.

Multicystic Renal Dysplasia in a Child with Split Hand/Split Foot Malformation
Split hand/split foot malformation is a human developmental disorder characterized by missing central digits and other distal limb malformations. Multicystic renal dysplasia is the most common cause of an abdominal mass in the new born period and is the most common cystic malformation of the kidney in infancy. Here, we report a case of split hand/split foot malformation with a submucosed cleft ...

There was no facial dysmorphism in the patient. He had a...

Typical cleft hand is a rare disorder usually inherited in an autosomal-dominant manner. We report a case of bilateral typical cleft hand in a 6-year-old male. There was no positive family history of such presentation, and no systemic manifestations were associated with this entity. Preanesthetic evaluation revealed no systemic or airway challenges and parents were counseled for routine surgica...

The split hand/split foot malformation (SHFM), which is also known as ectrodactyly, is a limb malformation syndrome involving the central rays of the hand or foot. The typical SHFM may present with syndactyly; median clefts of the hands and feet; and aplasia or hypoplasia (or both) of the phalanges, metacarpals, and metatarsals. Numerous human gene defects can cause SHFMs. For example, the SHFM...

Introduction Renal tubular acidosis (RTA) is a non-uremic defects of urinary acidification. It is characterized by a normal anion gap hyperchloremic metabolic acidosis; plasma potassium may be normal, low or high-depending on the type of RTA. These syndromes differ from uremic acidosis which is associated with a high anion gap, decreased glomerular filtration with enhanced proton secretion b...
